Google has Killed One more Famous Camera Feature

Back in 2012, Google introduced a unique and generally famous feature known as Photograph Circles, exclusively available on Google Camera. Throughout the span of 11 years, it turned into a beloved feature in the world of photography. However, with the launch of the Google Pixel 8 series, Google has decided to resign Photograph Circles, marking the end of an era.

The removal of Photo Spheres from Google Camera 9.1 was reported by 9to5Google, and this version will come pre-installed on the Google Pixel 8 series, signaling the retirement of this mode. Surprisingly, Google has chosen not to offer any official explanation for this move, leaving users disappointed and curious about the decision.

While Photo Spheres wasn't without its flaws and occasional bugs, it remained a charming novelty, particularly for those looking to capture and cherish special moments. This element conceded users the capability to capture a complete 360° view of their surroundings, disposing of the requirement for multiple panoramic shots to achieve a comprehensive perspective. Instead, users could immerse themselves in a location's environment by capturing it from all points in a single, consistent shot.

Capturing a Photo Sphere was essentially as simple as following the specks on the screen, and everyone's pictures would be consistently stitched together to provide a full 360-degree view. It functioned similarly to panoramic shots but offered superior results, encompassing the entire surroundings.

Photo Spheres found valuable applications in Google Street View and Google Maps, enabling users to contribute highly immersive images that showcased the complete surroundings of any location. This made it easier for people to explore and locate what they were searching for."
