The launch date of the more affordable OnePlus 12R has been revealed prematurely.
While everyone is buzzing about the new OnePlus 12, there's another phone in the works called the OnePlus 12R. It's slated to launch globally in January, alongside the OnePlus 12, and we've got the scoop thanks to a leak from the reliable source Max Jambor.
The OnePlus 12R is set to feature a curved 6.78-inch screen with adjustable refresh rates for a smoother display. The screen will also be safeguarded by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for added durability.
Under the hood, the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, the same one found in top-tier phones from the previous year. It packs a generous amount of memory (RAM) and storage – up to 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
The leaked details spill the beans on the phone's camera setup too. It boasts a 50MP main camera for capturing photos, an 8MP wide-angle camera, and a 2MP macro camera for those up-close shots. Powering the OnePlus 12R is a substantial 5,500 mAh battery, and it supports rapid charging up to 100W.
For those who care about aesthetics, the OnePlus 12R will be available in two colors: Iron Gray and Cool Blue. The phone is set to debut in China on January 4, followed by a global release on January 23, aligning with the OnePlus 12.
It's important to note that some users have reported issues with the OnePlus 12, such as a gap between the camera and the phone's frame. While not a widespread problem, there's optimism that these issues will be addressed in both the OnePlus 12R and the global version of the OnePlus 12.
