OnePlus Open 2/Oppo Find N4 Set for Early 2025 Release Featuring Enhanced Hinge
The One Plus Open, known as the Oppo Find N3 in China, stands out as one of the top foldable smartphones, surpassing even Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5. However, its successor, the OnePlus Open 2, might be delayed according to a new report from reputable Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station.
The tipster indicates that the OnePlus Open 2 is anticipated to launch in Q1 2025, despite its predecessor being released in October of last year. This timing suggests the new foldable could feature Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The Oppo version might be named the Find N4, or possibly the Find N5, given the number 4's unlucky connotation in China.
Additionally, the OnePlus Open 2 is expected to showcase an improved hinge, a sleeker design, and a folding screen with a significantly reduced crease. The smartphone will likely include a high-resolution cover screen and might come equipped with a periscope camera.
Samsung’s Foldable Rivals
Samsung's competing foldables are expected to debut in July this year at the Galaxy Unpacked launch event. This announcement should feature the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, anticipated to have a smaller crease due to a thicker Ultra Thin Glass (UTG).
Moreover, rumors suggest that Samsung will introduce new versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, namely the Z Fold 6 Slim and Z Fold 6 Ultra. The Z Fold 6 Slim is expected to be a thinner variant, aiming to compete with Chinese foldables known for their slim profiles. The Z Fold 6 Ultra is likely to challenge the OnePlus Open 2 with high-end specifications.
